LESSONS

Spinner Math

Welcome to the best spinner math resource in the world!  Get your students spinning their way to understanding linear, quadratic, sine, or integral functions.

LESSONS

Smoosh Math

This lesson uses Play-Doh, simulations, and linear functions to model what happens when different objects are smooshed!

PUZZLES

Fraction Stretch!

Fraction Stretch is an interactive fraction puzzle that has deep connections to other mathematical ideas.  The premise? Two fraction bars are mislabeled.  Your job is to stretch and shrink them until they are correctly labeled.  Ideal for 5th or 6th grade, but can be used with all of K-12.  It’s that rich!

PUZZLES

Triangle Perimeter

In this puzzle, your job is to minimize the perimeter of a triangle under very specific constraints.  Can you prove it?

PUZZLES

Matrix Bullet Dodge

Write functions.  Dodge bullets.  Help Neo avoid getting clipped by rotating his body away from the bullets.

SIMULATIONS

Length

The Length Simulation allows you to define lengths mathematically and explore their properties in a tangible environment.

SIMULATIONS

Rotation

The Rotation Simulation allow you to define rotations mathematically and explore their properties in a tangible environment.

SIMULATIONS

Temperature

The Temperature Simulation allow you to define rotations mathematically and explore their properties in a tangible environment.

VLOG

Playground Math

In this fun, energetic video we explore mathematics that you can find on a playground.  Use linear functions to describe movement down a slide and trigonometric functions to describe movement on swings.  Not just for kids!

VLOG

Skate Math

Watch me try not to kill myself in the name of mathematics.  In this episode, we write a function that describes how far I’ll jump as I attempt to launch over a set of stairs on rollerblades.

VLOG

Math Simulations

In this episode, I introduce 6 math simulations that can be used to model real-world phenomena.  This is part of a Math Simulations Quick Start Guide.

Principal Retirement Video

This year, Casey Middle School’s legendary principal, Fran McGreevy, is retiring. Pete Dobmeier, the current assistant principal and Fran’s right hand man, is taking his place and we couldn’t be happier. To celebrate both the ending of an era and the ushering in of a new one, I employed the dancing talent at our schooliver the course of a month making this video.

SCHOOL CULTURE

Timberlake Send-Off

In 2016, three beloved members of the Casey Middle School Family retired. To honor them, I spent over a month filming their family, friends and colleagues dancing to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling!  The video was featured in the Huffington Post here.

The Most Epic Faculty Act of All Time

What do you get when you mix a teacher linebacker in a tutu, a heavy metal secretary, and a bald 80’s hairband? A glorious, free-wheeling extravaganza of a faculty act! Watch as the Casey teachers shred, smear, and pummel their way to lip-sync glory in this 20 minute epic that took me 6 months to make.
